The 5th SIP Academy International Abacus, Brain Gym & Mental Arithmetic Competition was held in Bangalore on September 10.
This was the first international Abacus competition to be hosted in India and was held at the Sree Kanteerva Indoor Stadium.

Over 3,000 children from nine Indian states participated along with 75 children from Indonesia, Sri Lanka and the UAE.

The chief guest, former India cricketer Javagal Srinath, addressed the children. He said, "All of you have to study hard, but you must also make sports part of your curriculum. When your thinking is sharpened by sports, you will do much better in life...
The guests of honour, Arjuna awardee and Olympian, Ashwini Nachappa and Air Vice Marshal (Retd) Krishnaswamy, also stressed the importance of sports in one's life.
